The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spoke about differences over the Kalabagh Dam. PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja talked to reporters outside an Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi. He said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s support for the dam is his own opinion, not PTI’s official stand.
Raja said Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have long been against building the dam. “A project two provinces don’t want can’t help Pakistan,” he said. He added that projects like this need everyone to agree and work together.

Earlier, Gandapur spoke in Peshawar and strongly backed the Kalabagh Dam. He called it key for Pakistan’s water and power needs. He asked Sindh’s government to address the concerns. The dam, planned for the Indus River in Punjab’s Mianwali District, has faced pushback from Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to concerns over water and environmental impacts.
KP CM Gandapur Backs Kalabagh Dam and Imran Khan’s Release
The Kalabagh Dam has split opinions in Pakistan for years. Some say it’s needed to solve water shortages and generate electricity. Others in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa fear it will hurt their water supply and environment. PTI’s statement aims to keep the party united and respect regional views.
The disagreement shows how hard it is to balance local and national needs. PTI’s leaders want to keep talking to avoid more splits.
