The district chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Atif Jadoon Khan, and seven others were killed in rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) on Monday near Havelian, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
As per the initial information, the attackers targeted Jadoon’s car near Langra in the Abbottabad District after he and seven other persons had performed fateha in a nearby village, according to the authorities.
According to the police officers, the incident was related to a protracted conflict. Those with firsthand knowledge of the incident claim that the car was the target of an RPG strike before it caught fire.
The police and emergency workers went to the crime scene and transferred the remains to the hospital for formalities in the medical and legal fields.
Jadoon joined the Imran Khan-led PTI after winning the election as an independent, which is significant in this context. In contrast to the sources, the police asserted that the PTI leader was slain during a shooting.
