Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s (PTA) annual report indicated the telecom sector made Rs694 billion in FY 2021-2022.

The telecom sector earned Rs694 billion in 2021-22. $2,073 million was invested. As a result, the sector brought in Rs325.2 billion.

The NEXT generation mobile services auction earned Pakistan’s telecom sector Rs222.102 billion.

Teledensity in Pakistan is 90%, with 197 million fixed mobile subscribers. Biometrically validated SIMs/subscribers expanded to 194 million, broadband subscriptions grew to 124 million with 56% penetration, and yearly mobile data use reached 8,970 petabytes (6.8 GB per subscriber per month), a 31% rise.

IHC challenges PTA member’s reappointment

PTA established Short-Range Devices (SRDs) and IoT Framework in FY 2021-22 and gave licences for IoT (LPWAN) services.

First time in Pakistan’s history, mobile phone imports fell as most local demands were fulfilled by locally-made devices, demonstrating a dramatic shift in consumer behavior.

According to the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA), Pakistan is a developing telecom market.
