The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has initiated a one-window IP and VPN registration operation to ensure seamless operations for businesses such as software houses, call centres, freelancers, and foreign missions.
Businesses can now register through a unified portal on the PTA and Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) websites.
This initiative, a collaboration among PTA, the Ministry of Information Technology (MOIT), PSEB, and the Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA), has successfully registered over 20,000 IPs since its inception in 2020. It aims to secure and streamline businesses’ online operations.
Organizations are urged to register their VPNs to protect their digital activities. For registration, businesses should visit the PTA’s website.
In related news, Hamid Mir, a prominent journalist, has challenged the installation of a firewall in the Islamabad High Court through his lawyer, Imaan Mazari. Mir contends that the firewall has significantly slowed internet speeds, adversely affecting the digital economy’s younger participants.

His petition calls for a halt to firewall installations that could infringe on citizens’ fundamental rights unless they are executed with adequate stakeholder consultation and safeguards for these rights.
