On April 8, 2025, Priyansh Arya, a left-handed opener, lit up the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, scoring a century off 39 balls.
Facing Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), he smashed a stunning 39-ball century, the fastest by an uncapped batter in IPL history. His 42-ball 103, studded with seven fours and nine sixes, tied Travis Head’s fourth-fastest IPL ton and trailed only Yusuf Pathan among Indian batters.
Arya eclipsed RCB captain Rajat Patidar’s 49-ball record from 2022, cementing his breakout moment for Punjab Kings (PBKS). Despite wickets falling around him, he dominated CSK’s attack, falling to Noor Ahmad after a breathtaking knock.

Arya kicked off with a bang, lofting Khaleel Ahmed for a six off the first ball and surviving a drop on the next. He plundered 17 runs in that over, setting the tone. Luck favoured him again at 79, when Mukesh Choudhary caught him, only for the ball to be ruled a six after Choudhary touched the boundary rope. Arya hammered Ravichandran Ashwin for four and two sixes in the power-play, adding two more off the spinner later.
He sealed his century in style, hitting three consecutive sixes off Matheesha Pathirana before edging a four to reach the 100 mark. Arya became the second centurion of IPL 2025, following Ishan Kishan’s unbeaten 106.
