Top leaders of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and his father, Asif Ali Zardari, have arrived in Dubai via a special plane. Zardari is expected to stay in Dubai for a few days and may meet with Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif, who arrived in the UAE a day earlier.
Bilawal, who also serves as the country’s foreign minister, and Zardari’s visit to the UAE coincides with reports of Nawaz Sharif planning his return to Pakistan. Nawaz has been residing in London since November 2019 after being granted permission by the court to travel to the United Kingdom for medical reasons.
During their stay in Dubai, the prominent figures of the PML-N-led coalition government are likely to discuss important matters, including prevailing economic challenges and the upcoming general elections.
Sources indicate that Nawaz held several important meetings in Dubai to discuss his return plans and Pakistan’s economic and political future. The PML-N sources mentioned that the former prime minister is expected to return to Pakistan in the near future.
Discussions in Dubai focused on resolving any legal obstacles preventing Nawaz’s return, and there is optimism that a solution will be found soon.
Additionally, reports suggest that Nawaz Sharif plans to spend Eid ul Adha with his family in Dubai in the first week of July. He is also scheduled to meet with the royal family in Saudi Arabia.
The prospects of Nawaz’s return were boosted when the National Assembly recently amended a law allowing the disqualification of a parliamentarian for a maximum of five years.
