Federal Minister for Railways and Aviation, Khawaja Saad Rafique, has posited sabotage as a potential cause of the train accident in Nawabshah and a potential mechanical fault. He revealed that initial investigations indicated the Hazara Express train was travelling reasonably fast before it derailed. According to initial reports, the accident claimed 28 lives and caused several injuries. Emergency measures have been implemented in hospitals in Sukkur and Nawabshah in response to this tragic incident.
