Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have registered 1516 cases against fake CNIC holders during the ongoing crackdown, according to a police statement issued here on Wednesday.
The crackdown has started on the directives of IGP issued against fake document holders and those who are abetting these sorts of unlawful activities. The arrests were made after proper verification from NADRA and the special branch. Cases have also been registered against 960 persons for unlawful verification of CNIC-related documents.
802 cases were registered in the Peshawar region, 460 in Mardan, 49 in Kohat, 85 in Malakand, 27 in Bannu, 49 in Hazara and 44 in the DIKhan region. Thus, a total of 2687 cases have been registered under the relevant laws against the violators in the crackdown.
