Peshawar: Police on Wednesday announced the arrest of a ‘commander’ of a banned militant outfit and recovery of weapons and explosive during raids in different parts of Peshawar city.
According to SSP Operations Dr Mian Saeed, search operations were conducted in Hazar Khawani, Dir Colony, Tor Baba and Ghafoorabad areas of the provincial capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. During the raids, Fahim Khan – the ‘commander’ of the militant organisation – was arrested along with his companions, the police said.
The senior police officer said that three grenades, cartridges, bomb timers, batteries, remotes, acids and weapons were also recovered from the arrested man. Peshawar is a city of 2.5 million and had long been on the frontline of violence.
