Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) expelled basic membership of Wajeeh uz Zaman Khan, MPA from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) for not casting his vote during the recent Senate election.
According to the termination letter signed by the PML(N) chief Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, the member of the provincial assembly (MPA) had been found guilty of gross misconduct for having committed an act which was against the party policy, ethics and discipline.
The letter quoted a news item saying that the MPA had announced to field and support his close relative as an independent candidate for the Senate from KP. Furthermore, for some personal gains, he also deliberately proposed another non-PML-N candidate and seconded yet another non-PML-N candidate.
“It was surprising for the party that under a false pretext and in sheer disobedience to the PML-N’s decision and direction to vote, support and assist Senate candidate of the PML-N from KP,” it said.
The said act of violation of party discipline and policy constituted an act of gross misconduct, said the letter.
The MPA was also reminded of a show cause notice served on him on February 28, 2015 by party secretary general for policy violation. The entire Pakistani nation, political parties and the media also condemned such an act committed either by the said MPA or others, it added.
The parliamentarians expressed maturity by out-rightly rejecting opportunity-seekers proposed or seconded by him for whom he had disregarded all political and democratic norms.
“You tried to discredit the Senate election, the parliamentarians foiled and thwarted this maligned effort undertaken by you and others,” said the termination letter.
It also described his reply to the show cause notice as carrying no plausible justification or explanation for proposing and supporting the non-PML-N candidate in gross violation of party discipline.
The PML-N President also declared the MPA’s resignation as void ab initio saying that it was meant to avoid disciplinary action by the party again showing malafide intentions and proving his guilty of violating party discipline. (Agencies)
