The Foreign Office has confirmed that Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will attend Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s inauguration ceremony in Ankara on June 3.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit, made upon the invitation of the recently re-elected Erdogan, is a testament to the deep fraternal bond between Pakistan and Turkey, according to Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch.
In her weekly press briefing, Baloch noted that Sharif intends to relay heartfelt congratulations to President Erdogan from the Pakistani government and its people. Further, he will invite Erdogan to the 7th Meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council in Islamabad.
Discussing other diplomatic matters, Baloch referred to the foreign minister’s meeting with the US ambassador as routine, aimed at fostering bilateral relations and cooperation.
On the topic of India’s recent BrahMos missile misfire, Baloch reiterated Pakistan’s clear stance. Pakistan has demanded an investigation report from India and has suggested an independent inquiry into the matter. She underscored the necessity for India to ensure the security of its missile defense system and nuclear arsenal. Baloch also highlighted the need for careful consideration regarding the placement of nuclear weapons in non-nuclear countries.
