Riyadh: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif reached Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Sunday to perform Umrah.

Upon his arrival at the Jeddah airport, the prime minister was received by officials of the Pakistani Embassy in Jeddah.

According to Radio Pakistan, the prime minister will perform Umrah today. Meanwhile, Nawaz will also meet the Saudi royal family during his visit, reports said.

Saudi Arabia and Pakistan enjoy close brotherly and strategic relations. Both countries have cooperated with each other in times of crisis and have focused on strengthening trade ties.

In April, PM Nawaz and Army chief General Raheel Sharif had visited Saudia for a day. Upon their arrival, the delegation was received by Prince Mohammad bin Nayef Al-Saud, deputy crown prince and minister for interior, Prince Mohammad bin Salman Al-Saud and defence minister at the airport.
