Islamabad: Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Governor and Minister for Kashmir Affairs and GB Chaudhry Birjees Tahir called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s House here on Thursday.

The prime minister congratulated him on the peaceful holding of Legislative Assembly elections in a transparent and independent manner. He said that international observers have also appreciated transparent holding of elections, for which credit goes to the GB governor, local administration, Pakistan Army and Judiciary as well as the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif; Federal Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Political Secretary to PM Dr Asif Kirmani were also present in the meeting. Sources said that formation of GB government also came under discussion during the meeting as the PML-N has emerged as the single largest party with fourteen seats in a house of twenty four.
