Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has launched direct flights connecting Lahore and Karachi to Baku, Azerbaijan, representing a major advancement in strengthening bilateral relations.
The new twice-weekly flights, approved by Azerbaijan’s Civil Aviation Authority, began with a Karachi to Baku service on March 16 and Lahore to Baku on March 19.
This strategic expansion aims to promote tourism and trade between the two countries. PIA organized specialized workshops for travel agents and tour operators, highlighting the advantages of new routes and showcasing Azerbaijan as a destination that beautifully blends ancient heritage with modern attractions. Travelers can explore Baku’s UNESCO World Heritage Site, Icherisheher, the iconic Flame Towers, and the scenic Caspian Sea Boulevard.

The initiative responds to growing demand for streamlined travel, particularly after Azerbaijan introduced e-visa facilities for Pakistani citizens. Tourists can now obtain visas online, simplifying visits to the Caucasus nation known for its culinary diversity and architectural marvels.
