Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) staff recently led 34 Indian passengers to a Lahore hotel despite the group not possessing the required visas for such an action. This group, originally en route from New Delhi to Saudi Arabia, had a layover in Pakistan as part of their journey.
Initial findings by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) indicate that the PIA crew navigated the passengers through the airport, evading FIA-operated security checkpoints. Consequently, these passengers reportedly stayed overnight at the hotel.
The FIA has prepared a detailed report concerning this incident and plans to forward it to relevant authorities for further action.
Legally, transit passengers are mandated to stay within a specific zone, typically located inside the airport, awaiting their subsequent flights. This incident marks a deviation from established protocols, raising questions about the procedural adherence by the airline staff involved.
