A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) air hostess, Maryam Raza, reportedly went missing during her assignment in Canada, marking another incident involving the airline’s crew.
Maryam Raza, who was scheduled on flight PK 782 from Pakistan to Toronto, did not report for her return flight, PK 784, to Karachi. An investigation into her disappearance revealed a note in her room, expressing thanks to PIA, found alongside her uniform.
This incident is the third reported this year involving PIA flight attendants not returning from duty. Despite PIA’s efforts to curb such incidents by retaining the passports of crew members on Toronto-bound flights, the effectiveness of these measures is being questioned.
Insiders suggest that the underlying causes for these disappearances include low wages and uncertain job security within the national carrier. These incidents have sparked significant concern over PIA employees’ working conditions and benefits. This calls for a thorough policy review to protect and improve the welfare of the airline’s workforce.
