A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court, seeking for high court intervension for the extension in service of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif up to four years.
In the petition, the petition, Advocate Rana Ilmuddin plead that that ” COAS launched Operation Zarb-e-Azb that eliminated 90 per cent of terrorists from the country. The COAS also inflicted damage on the corrupt elements. Hence it has become inevitable to extend tenure of the incumbent army chief”
The petitioner also plead that extension in service of top military commander was in national interest and “such a move would also take war on terror to its logical end,”
COAS will retire on November 2016.
