A constitutional petition has been filed in a Karachi court against the Bollywood film Dhurandhar. The petition, filed by PPP activist Muhammad Amir, alleges unauthorised use of the late Benazir Bhutto’s image. It also objects to the use of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) flags and rally footage in the film’s official trailer.
The petition was submitted to the District and Sessions Court (South) in Karachi. It seeks the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against the film’s creators. Those named include director Aditya Dhar and producers Lokesh Dhar and Jyoti Kishore Deshpande.
The newly released Indian film #Dhurandar has unlawfully used images of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and disgracefully attempted to portray the PPP as sympathetic to terrorists.

The list of proposed accused also includes leading actors Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Beni. Key crew members, including cinematographer Vikash Nolcha and editor Shiv Kumar V. Panicker, are also named in the legal filing.

The petition alleges that the trailer uses images of the former prime minister and PPP symbols without lawful authorisation. It further alleges the film portrays the PPP as sympathetic to terrorists. The petition argues that this depiction is defamatory and misleading and that it harms Pakistan’s international reputation.
The petitioner contends the trailer fosters hatred and incitement against the PPP, its leadership, and supporters. He cites specific sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) in his complaint. These sections relate to defamation, criminal intimidation, promoting enmity, and provocation to cause rioting.

Amir stated he first submitted a written complaint to the local Darakhshan police station. However, the police did not file a formal case or initiate legal proceedings. This lack of response prompted him to seek relief directly from the court.
The petition requests the court to order the police to register an FIR immediately. It also seeks instructions for the Senior Superintendent of Police (South) to ensure a transparent investigation. The filing demands that all responsible individuals be thoroughly named and investigated in connection with the film.
