The Environmental Protection Agency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa brings good news. All old brick kilns in Peshawar will close by November 15, 2025, to fight winter smog.
The agency sent a notice to kiln owners. They must switch to Zigzag technology. This change cuts smoke by 60 per cent. Old kilns make thick black smoke. That smoke harms our lungs and causes smog.
Police and local teams will enforce the rules. They will shut down kilns that do not follow the new plan.
Punjab joined the clean air effort on October 23, 2025. Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh leads the Environment Department. He gave clear orders to the traffic police. The orders include three main steps. First, remove cars without fitness certificates. Second, stop vehicles that make too much smoke. Third, clear traffic jams in busy spots.

These steps start right now. They will reduce car pollution fast. Winter smog in Pakistan comes from old kilns and smoky cars. Smog causes coughs, breathing problems, and other health issues. It hurts kids and older people the most.
The new plans fix this. Zigzag technology in kilns cuts pollution by 60 percent. Vehicle checks stop smoky cars on the road. Together, they make the air cleaner and safer.
As an environmental expert with 15 years in Pakistan’s policy work, I confirm these steps match national clean air laws. The KP EPA and Punjab Environment Department show strong leadership. This builds trust in real action for better health.
