Former Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Pervez Khattak will join Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) on February 22, 2025.
The ex-PTI leader confirmed his decision after meeting JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman. Pervez Khattak’s JUI-F shift marks a significant political realignment in KP.
Khattak and his brother Liaqat Khattak met with JUI-F’s supremo. The leaders discussed the move at length before finalizing it. Khattak plans to announce JUI-F entry during a press conference in Manki Sharif, Nowshera, alongside Rehman.
Khattak once led PTI as KP provincial president. Under PTI’s rule, he served as KP chief minister from 2013 to 2018. However, he resigned from all PTI roles in June 2023 after the May 9 incidents tied to Imran Khan’s arrest. Soon after, he launched Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Parliamentarians as a new party.
The Pervez Khattak JUI-F move signals a shift from his PTI roots. Once a close ally of Imran Khan, Khattak now aligns with Rehman’s vision. This change could impact K-P’s political landscape as elections loom.
Khattak’s formal announcement on February 22 will clarify his plans within JUI-F. Observers await details on how this Pervez Khattak JUI-F alliance will shape future strategies. Stay tuned for updates.
