The Pakistan Engineering Council’s (PEC) Graduate Engineer Training (GET) program has selected 1,700 fresh engineering graduates for its second batch. Each trainee will receive a monthly stipend of Rs50,000 and six months of structured industry training at organisations across Pakistan.
PEC finalised the placements through a transparent digital balloting process, according to the source text.
The ceremony took place at the PEC Regional Office in Lahore, where Chairman PEC Engr. Waseem Nazir formally inaugurated the process. Senior officials and members of the governing body also joined the event online.
A total of 5,300 candidates applied for the program. After screening, PEC shortlisted 3,982 applicants and selected 1,700 graduates through a digital ballot.
PEC officials said the initiative runs through dedicated online portals for both employers and engineers. They noted that PEC has formed partnerships with leading public- and private-sector organisations to provide structured, industry-based training.
Out of the 1,700 placements, PEC reserved 300 seats for engineering graduates from Balochistan, and all of those positions have now been filled. The remaining 1,400 selected candidates come from Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Chairman Engr. Waseem Nazir said the special allocation for Balochistan aims to expand opportunities for the province’s youth, reduce socio-economic disparities, and integrate them more fully into the national engineering workforce.
PEC described the GET program as a fully funded, six-month “house job”-style initiative. It includes five months of field training and one month of skill development. Participants will receive a monthly stipend of Rs50,000.
Successful trainees will also receive a jointly issued certificate with QR code verification. According to the source text, the program is designed to equip young engineers with practical, industry-oriented skills while promoting merit, transparency, and equal opportunity across regions.
