PDM Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed concern over recent meetings in Dubai between PML-N and PPP leaders, key government allies. He questioned why the PDM was not informed about the meeting with PPP, which isn’t part of the alliance. Discussing the no-confidence motion against former PM Imran Khan, he disclosed that his party favoured street protests to push the then-PTI government to resign.
Rehman revealed that he rejected an offer by former spy chief Lt Gen. Faiz Hameed to become the Senate’s member and chair, as it entailed a system change. In response to questions about civilian trials in military courts, he noted the military’s role as a complainant.
Rehman claimed that financial improvements would result in lowering daily commodity prices. He questioned international support for Imran Khan, highlighting incidents of Islam and the Quran desecration. Rehman also opposed the recognition of Israel.
With the National Assembly’s term ending soon, Rehman expects an interim set-up ahead of elections. He clarified that only parliament could extend the NA’s term. Discussing attacks on JUI-F leaders, Rehman reported targeted attacks on religious scholars and active party members. He questioned the military’s inability to eliminate Al Qaeda and Daesh, arguing that security issues were the military’s responsibility. Finally, he suggested that Asia might lead the global economy in the future.
