Patient dies in electricity-less Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar

Peshawar: A renal patient died in Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar due to long hours of load shedding, generator system  failure on wee hours of Saturday.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) provincial government claimed Lady Reading hospital of an ideal place for the province; but, a renal patient died only because the hospital had no electricity and backup electricity facilities.

A footage shown on local news channel ‘Samaa TV’ depicts complete blacked out in the hospital and attendants holding hand fans struggling to provide their patients with respite from heat.

According to attendants, load shedding at Intensive Care Unit and Nephrology Department continued for last three hours and most and they have no other option to move their patients into corridors.

The hospital management stated that Nephrology department is the only department does not have an backup generator.
