Following the new government’s inception, passport fees have dramatically increased by 50 per cent, sparking widespread dissatisfaction.
The cost for a standard 36-page passport with a five-year validity has escalated to Rs 4,500 from Rs 3,000. The fee for expedited processing in this category has also risen, moving from Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,500.
The fee for a passport valid for 10 years is now Rs 6,700, up from Rs 4,500. The expedited service cost is Rs 11,200, up from Rs 7,500.
The charge for a 72-page passport with a five-year validity is Rs 8,200 for standard processing and Rs 13,500 for expedited processing. Additionally, a 100-page passport valid for ten years now costs Rs 12,400 for regular service and Rs 20,200 for expedited service.
