The Punjab Assembly’s treasury benches voted for Chief Minister Parvez Elahi, with the opposition boycotting the session after tearing up the agenda pages.

After the Lahore High Court (LHC) declared that the governor could call the chief minister to seek house trust during a session, the province chief executive took the confidence vote.

The court ruled earlier today that the chief minister must have the backing of 186 MPs 24/7 to be elected.

A motion by Punjab Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Raja Basharat supported Elahi as chief minister with 186 MPAs.

The opposition boycotted the session, stating that Punjab Governor Baligh-Ur-vote Rehman’s of confidence order was pending.

Today, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPAs proposed a vote of confidence for Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Pervaiz Elahi.

After completing the necessary MPAs, the Punjab Assembly reassembled Wednesday night to vote on CM Pervaiz Elahi’s confidence.

PTI MPA Mian Aslam Iqbal and Raja Basharat submitted the resolution for a vote today.

PTI MPA Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed told ARY News that 187 legislators will support the Punjab CM today.

PTI and its allies completed the Punjab Assembly numbers before the vote of confidence despite the federal government’s methods.

As PTI and PML-Q MPAs Javed Akhtar and Ammar Yasir entered the assembly hall, Rana Sanaullah and Attaullah Tarar’s accusations were disproven.

In anticipation of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz protest, the Punjab Assembly was secured (PML-N). Security guards the speaker’s dice before voting.

The PA secretary published voting instructions after submitting the resolution.
