The joint investigation team (JIT) probing the Panama case has alleged that government departments tampering record to assist the Sharifs.

The Panama JIT submitted its third report to the supreme court bench headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and comprising Justices Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Ijazul Ahsan.

Justice Ahsan remarked that some departments have been accused of changing records after the JIT informed the bench that some institutions are delaying providing relevant records

Judge Justice Ijazul Ahsen “The JIT has alleged that certain institutions are altering records. Even forgery has been carried out. There are serious allegations levelled by the JIT in its application.”

Justice Azmat Saeed Shaikh, observed that there would be far-reaching consequences in case of forgery. “You are representing the federation, not the government,” the judge told Additional Attorney General Waqar Rana.

The bench sought a reply from the Attorney General’s Office over the JIT’s objections.
