The players of Pakistan’s Street Child Football team have been flown back into Karachi to a rousing reception after sealing third position in the street football tournament held in Brazil.
A lot of supporters of the young footballers arrived at the airport to receive the heroes who traveled all the way from backstreet urchins to the pride of nation. The fully charged and overly enthused fans danced to the beat of drums an hour before sunrise.
Besides the family members of the young heroes from the slums of Karachi, those who reached the airport to receive the minor greats, include Sharmila Farooqui, Rubina Qaimkhani and MPA Sania Naz.
Also, Secretary Sports Sindh Laeeq Ahmed and Director Sports Abdus Salam were present at the airport. Some leaders of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) drove to the airport to receive the football prodigies.
Razzaq Khan, Ahmed Sameer and Aurangzeb are the most outstanding players of the tournament.
The players were escorted to their houses by a highly charged crowd people.
While been unbeaten throughout the tournament they were eventually stumped by Berundi in the Semi final who were in turn beaten by Tanzania who clinched the championship
