Pakistani music band Sachal Jazz Ensemble performed at UN General Assembly to mark the 70th Independence Day.

According to United Nations Deputy Secretary General Amina Mohammed, the organisation appreciated and acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts for peace.

Amina was present as the chief guest of the event in place of the UN secretary general who was busy with other commitments.

The concert titled ‘Music Beyond Borders’ was aimed at spreading the message of peace and harmony on the world stage.

Sachal Jazz Ensemble performed their music that is already has international familiarity.

While talking to Geo News a day before the concert, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UN Maleeha Lodhi said they organised a grand event as they wanted Pakistan’s independence to be celebrated in general assembly of the UN, which is also called the Parliament of the world.

She added that in today’s times when xenophobia, especially Islamophobia, is on a rise, it is important for the world to know what the Pakistani culture is like, Lodhi said. “We have to bridge the gaps and this can be done through music.” (PhotoNews /Geo News)
