Pakistani journalist Shakir Mehmood Awan has been reported missing for several hours following his recent interview with Deutsche Welle (DW), Germany’s international broadcaster.

Following the interview, Awan shared a clip from the session on his Twitter account, raising concerns about his whereabouts.

In his interview with DW News, Awan discussed the Pakistani government’s use of brutal force to disperse protesters from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf at D-Chowk in Islamabad. This coverage has brought significant attention to the situation.

Fellow journalist Hamid Mir has confirmed Awan’s disappearance via his Twitter account, echoing concerns about Awan’s safety following his critical reporting on the government’s actions during the protest.
