Dr. Kapotaqkhy Chanchala, the current Miss Pakistan Universal 2023, and Areej Choudhry, a former beauty pageant winner and celebrity, urged young girls of Pakistan to participate in beauty pageants, representing the country’s soft image worldwide.
During a press conference held at the Karachi Press Club, the beauty queens explained the application process, selection system, and rules of participating in these competitions.
Dr. Chanchala noted that Pakistan is involved in various global industries, including the pageant industry. She explained that beauty pageants provide an international platform for Pakistani girls to showcase their country’s and its people’s beauty.
Recognizing the Role of Pageant
During the press conference, the beauty queens acknowledged the role of Sonia Ahmed, the founder of Miss Canada Pakistan Inc, in promoting the pageant industry in Pakistan. They noted her perseverance and steady process in achieving her goal. Dr. Chanchala, affectionately known as Dr. Kapo, appealed to the business community for financial support to ensure the organization’s smooth operation and promote Pakistan’s soft image abroad.
Choudhry, a previous winner of Miss Pakistan World, clarified that participating in beauty pageants was not about flaunting dresses but representing the country globally. She commended Sonia Ahmed for her dedication to the pageant world and work promoting Pakistan’s representation.
Choudhry emphasized that educated girls could better represent the country and encouraged them to participate in beauty competitions, regardless of their background or career. She assured potential contestants that the necessary training would be provided and proficiency in English was preferred for better communication during international competitions.
She highlighted that beauty pageants were about physical beauty, presentation, confidence, and intelligence. Choudhry stressed that around 50 international pageants were held each year, requiring 10-15 strong Pakistani representatives, creating a significant opportunity for young girls to showcase their talents and the country’s image.
