Ireland were knocked out of the World Cup by Pakistan, who qualified for the quarter-finals with a seven-wicket win.

Sarfraz Ahmed hit a composed unbeaten 101 as they chased 238 with 23 balls to spare in Adelaide.

Captain William Porterfield made 107 – his maiden World Cup century – in Ireland’s 237 all out, while Wahab Riaz claimed 3-54.

Pakistan, who have won four games in succession, face Australia in the last eight at the same venue on Friday.
