Karachi’s residents can witness a change in weather, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasting rain, thunderstorms, and lightning for February 3 and 4.
The PMD forecast follows the expected arrival of a western disturbance in Balochistan on February 1 and a drizzle in Karachi on the night of February 2.
Moreover, the Met Office predicts rainfall in Sindh’s interior cities, such as Jamshoro, Dadu, Larkana, and others, from February 2 to 3. In Balochistan, heavy rain on February 2 and 3 may lead to flash floods, which calls for caution.
This westerly wave is also expected to impact other regions across Pakistan:
- Balochistan will see rain and possibly heavy falls, with snow over the hills in various areas on February 2 and 3.
- Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir are forecast to experience moderate to heavy rain and snow from January 31 to February 4.
- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will also witness moderate to heavy rainfall and snow over the hills from January 31 to February 4.
- Punjab and Islamabad expect rain and snow in Murree and Galliyat, with light to moderate rain in other parts from January 31 to February 1 and again on February 3 and 4.
- On February 2 and 3, Sindh will experience light to moderate rain in several cities, with cold and partly cloudy conditions elsewhere.
Residents and authorities should prepare for these conditions, which could affect travel and outdoor activities.
