The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasted hot and humid conditions in Sindh, with rainfall, strong winds, and thunderstorms expected in southeastern districts. Other regions, including Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, also face wet weather.
The PMD predicts hot and humid weather across Sindh on July 2, with rainfall expected in Tharparkar and Umerkot districts by evening or night. On July 3, Karachi’s coastal belt, along with Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mithi, Sanghar, and Mirpur Khas, is expected to experience rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms. These conditions could disrupt daily activities, with urban flooding risks in low-lying areas, as seen in past monsoons.

Beyond Sindh, the PMD forecasts rain with gusty winds and thunderstorms in Kashmir, Islamabad, upper Punjab, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on July 2 and 3. South Punjab, southeastern Sindh, and southern Balochistan are also expected to experience similar weather on Thursday. Some areas may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall, which will increase the risks of flash floods and infrastructure damage, particularly in vulnerable regions.

The PMD advises residents to stay vigilant, avoid travel during heavy rain, and steer clear of areas prone to flooding. With heavy rainfall risks, authorities recommend monitoring updates and securing weak structures. The forecast aligns with Pakistan’s monsoon season, which often brings intense weather, as evidenced by the devastating floods of 2022 that affected 33 million people, according to UN reports.
