Pakistan denounced Afghan border forces’ “unprovoked and indiscriminate firing” on civilians and urged “the toughest possible measures” against those responsible for Chaman.
Six Pakistanis died, and 17 were injured on Sunday.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said such instances “don’t fit” with the countries’ brotherly ties.
She added Afghan authorities had been told to prevent a recurrence and punish those involved.
Both sides must protect border civilians, the spokeswoman stated.
The FO spokeswoman stated both countries’ authorities are in communication to prevent further escalation and recurrence.
Afghan border forces unleashed unprovoked and indiscriminate fire on a civilian neighborhood in Chaman, Balochistan, killing 6 and wounding 17 others.
