Pakistan’s win against the USA in the T20 World Cup highlighted a strong collective performance as Pakistan sealed a commanding 32-run victory on Tuesday. The result strengthened Pakistan’s position in the tournament and underlined their depth in both batting and bowling departments.
Batting first after the United States won the toss and opted to field, Pakistan posted a competitive total of 190 for nine in their allotted 20 overs. The innings was anchored by a superb knock from Sahibzada Farhan, who scored 73 runs and provided stability through the middle overs.
Pakistan made a confident start as Saim Ayub and Farhan added 54 runs in just 5.1 overs. However, the USA responded quickly with back-to-back wickets. Saim Ayub departed for 19, while captain Salman Ali Agha was dismissed on the final ball of the powerplay after scoring just one run.
Despite the brief setback, Pakistan closed the powerplay at 56 with Farhan and Babar Azam at the crease. The pair focused on rebuilding the innings as the USA bowlers tightened their lines and limited scoring opportunities.
At the halfway stage, Pakistan were 85 for two. Momentum shifted in the 12th over when Farhan and Babar took advantage of Harmeet Singh, collecting 21 runs to lift the total from 101 to 122. Babar showed glimpses of form by striking a six and two boundaries in the over.
However, the USA clawed back in the 15th over when Babar was dismissed for 46 off 32 balls. In the following over, Farhan also fell after completing a commanding innings of 73 from 41 balls, including six fours and five sixes. Pakistan slipped to 145 for four in the 16th over.
Pakistan vs USA T20 World Cup Win Built on Late Surge
After a brief slowdown, Shadab Khan provided a crucial late boost. He struck 30 runs off just 12 deliveries, finding the boundary four times and clearing the ropes once. His cameo pushed Pakistan closer to a 200-run total.
The USA bowlers regrouped well in the final overs, restricting Pakistan to 190 for nine. For the Americans, Shadley van Schalkwyk was the standout performer, claiming four wickets and keeping the contest alive until the end.
In response, the United States faced early pressure from Pakistan’s disciplined bowling attack. Despite a fighting effort, the chase never fully gathered momentum. Shubham Ranjane led the resistance with a well-made 51, while Shayan Jahangir contributed 49.
Pakistan’s bowlers maintained control throughout the innings. Usman Tariq delivered an impressive spell, picking up three wickets. Shadab Khan added two more, while Mohammad Nawaz, Abrar Ahmed, and Shaheen Shah Afridi claimed one wicket each.
Ultimately, the USA were restricted to 158 for eight in their 20 overs. Pakistan’s balanced performance with both bat and ball ensured a comfortable 32-run win and reinforced their credentials as strong contenders in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
