Pakistan has reached the final of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2024 in Ipoh, Malaysia, and is set to face Japan on May 11. Both teams topped the points table, securing their spots in the championship match.

After four matches, Pakistan leads the standings, having achieved three victories and one draw. Japan mirrors this record with an identical tally of wins and draws.

In other placements, Malaysia and New Zealand are third and fourth, each with six points. Korea follows with three points in fifth place, while Canada is last, having failed to win matches.

Pakistan’s journey to the final included a dramatic match against Canada, where they overturned a 2-0 deficit to win 5-4. Abu Bakr Mahmood initiated the comeback with two goals, and teammates Arshad Liaqat, Rana Waheed Ashraf, and Ghazanfar Ali each added a goal. Sean Davis scored twice for Canada, with Harbir Sindhu and Avjot Buttar finding the net once.

Pakistan will face New Zealand on May 10 before the final. Meanwhile, Japan secured its final berth with a 2-1 victory over Malaysia.
