Pakistan suffered a significant 7-0 loss to Jordan in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round 2 Qualifier at Amman International Stadium. This defeat came during the fourth round of Group Seven matches in the Asian qualifiers.
Jordan’s Musa Al-Taamari led the charge with a hat-trick, scoring the opening, fourth, and sixth goals. Yazan Al-Naimat added to the tally with a penalty kick in the 28th minute. At the same time, Saad Al-Rousan and Ali Alwan, along with Muhammad Abu Zureiq, contributed to the comprehensive victory. Jordan’s win positioned them second in Group Seven, gathering seven points.
The two teams previously met in Islamabad, where Jordan secured a 3-0 victory, marking their first visit to Pakistan in 18 years. Pakistan’s team faced setbacks, with defenders Mohammad Fazal and Abdullah Iqbal absent from the game due to injury and suspension.
Pakistan’s performance in the qualifiers has been mixed, with a historic win against Cambodia offset by a loss to Saudi Arabia. The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) noted the team’s travel via a private airline for the match.
With the qualifiers progressing, two teams from each group will move to the next round, while others aim for the Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers. Pakistan’s coach, Stephen Constantine, commended his team’s effort in the previous match against Jordan in Islamabad despite the loss.
