Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi revealed on Monday that Pakistan Railways will run four special trains for Eidul Fitr.
Speaking to the media outside Parliament House in Islamabad, he shared plans to ease travel for millions. Alongside the extra trains, passengers will enjoy a 20% discount, making rail a top choice for families heading home from big cities during the festive rush.
Eidul Fitr sees a surge in travel as commuters flock to their hometowns. While private transporters often raise fares, trains offer a comfy, family-friendly option. Abbasi’s announcement aims to meet this demand head-on, ensuring smoother journeys. It builds on recent updates, like revised Ramadan reservation timings, showing Pakistan Railways’ focus on passenger needs.
On February 28, Pakistan Railways tweaked reservation office hours for Ramadan. Morning shifts now run from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM, and evening shifts from 12:30 PM to 5:30 PM, except for single-shift offices. These changes, effective until Ramadan 15, balance fasting schedules with service. As Eid nears, Abbasi’s latest move promises relief and affordability.
