Pakistan has upgraded its global digital infrastructure. The country successfully deployed a new, high-capacity submarine cable system connecting Singapore to France.
According to the Ministry of Information Technology, this fiber network boasts a massive capacity of 100 terabytes per second. Consequently, it will provide one of the fastest and most efficient data routes between Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Western Europe.
This strategic deployment directly enhances Pakistan’s international bandwidth. Therefore, it will better support critical digital services. These include cloud computing, data centres, and fintech applications. Furthermore, it strengthens the backbone for e-commerce, video streaming, and the broader digital economy.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) managed recent maintenance on this critical infrastructure. The company previously warned users of potential slow speeds or temporary disruptions for up to 18 hours.
However, PTCL has now confirmed that repair work on a repeater in the submarine cable has been completed. Operations on the affected segment are fully restored. As a result, internet speed and connectivity across the country have returned to normal.
Despite the successful national restoration, some users in Karachi continue to report issues. Officials and residents confirm that internet performance remains sluggish in parts of the city. Many users still face difficulties with uploading and downloading content on various social media platforms
