The federal government of Pakistan has officially announced a national holiday on December 25. This day commemorates the birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and also marks Christmas. All government and private offices, as well as educational institutions, will remain closed.
Separately, the Sindh government has declared an additional holiday. Christian employees in the province will have a holiday on December 26 for Christmas celebrations.
Furthermore, Sindh announced a public holiday on December 27. This observes the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. All provincial offices and local institutions will be closed.
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has also confirmed a bank holiday on December 31. All private and government banks will remain closed nationwide on the last day of the year. A tentative schedule of national holidays for 2026 has also surfaced. The dates are subject to official government confirmation and moon sightings for Islamic events.
The likely schedule includes:
- February 5: Kashmir Day
- March 21-23: Eid-ul-Fitr (subject to moon sighting)
- May 1: Labour Day
- May 27-29: Eid-ul-Azha (subject to moon sighting)

- August 26: Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW)
- November 9: Iqbal Day
