The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on May 12, 2025, that 51 individuals, including 11 armed forces personnel, were martyred in Indian military strikes during a 19-day conflict from April 22 to May 10, named Marka-e-Haq (Battle of Truth).

The Indian attacks, deemed “barbaric” by ISPR, killed 40 civilians, including 7 women and 15 children, prompting Pakistan’s Operation Bunyaan al Marsoos, a decisive retaliation that led to a U.S.-brokered ceasefire on May 10.

ISPR reported that India’s unprovoked strikes on May 6–7 targeted civilians, resulting in 40 civilian deaths 7 women, 15 children and 121 injuries, including 10 women and 27 children. Eleven Pakistan armed forces personnel, named Naik Abdul Rehman, Lance Naik Dilawar Khan, and others, were martyred, with 78 wounded defending Pakistan.

ISPR honoured their “enduring symbol of courage” and prayed for the injured’s recovery, with X posts reflecting national grief and pride in the martyrs’ sacrifice.

Operation Bunyaan al Marsoos

Launched on May 10, Operation Bunyaan al Marsoos targeted 26 Indian military sites, including airbases like Suratgarh and Adampur, BrahMos facilities, and S-400 systems, in response to India’s aggression following the April 22 Pahalgam attack, which India blamed on Pakistan without evidence. Described as “precise and proportionate,” the operation used Fatah-series missiles and cyber warfare, avoiding civilian casualties, as ISPR emphasised Pakistan’s restraint and tri-services synergy.

The conflict, spanning 87 hours, ended with a U.S.-mediated ceasefire on May 10, brokered by Secretary of State Marco Rubio. ISPR underscored Pakistan’s resolve, stating, “Any attempt to challenge Pakistan’s sovereignty shall be met with a swift, full-spectrum response.” The nation’s unity, with public and media support countering Indian disinformation, was a “force multiplier,” per ISPR. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared May 10 as Youm-e-Marka-i-Haq, honouring the martyrs annually.

ISPR named the martyred soldiers, including Squadron Leader Usman Yousuf and Senior Technician Najeeb, whose sacrifices symbolise patriotism. The military thanked the Pakistani people, youth, media, and political leaders for their unwavering support, crediting divine guidance and quoting Surah Anfal: “Allah is the best of planners.”
