On May 16, 2025, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of Pakistan’s armed forces, launched ‘Yalghar Hai – Pakistan’s Victory Anthem’ to honour its military’s bravery, unity, and resilience.
The release follows recent military tensions with India, highlighting the armed forces’ role in safeguarding the nation. Written and performed by Hussnain Ali Paracha, the anthem was shared across ISPR’s official social media platforms, resonating with patriotic fervour.
The anthem’s release comes days after Pakistan and India agreed to a full ceasefire on May 10, 2025, halting intense military exchanges that raised fears of escalation between the nuclear-armed neighbours. The ceasefire, announced by U.S. President Donald Trump and confirmed by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, followed missile strikes, drone incursions, and cross-border operations.
Tensions surged after an April 22 attack in Pahalgam, Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), killed 26 civilians. India attributed the attack to Pakistan-based groups without evidence, a claim Islamabad firmly denied. India’s subsequent actions, closing the Wagah border, revoking Pakistani visas, and suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, were labelled by Pakistan as provocative.
‘Yalghar Hai’ embodies Pakistan’s spirit of defiance and unity, celebrating the armed forces’ readiness to protect the homeland. X users praised the anthem, with posts like “#YalgharHai is a powerful tribute to our heroes!” reflecting public support. The ISPR’s release aims to inspire national pride amid a fragile ceasefire.
As Pakistan and India navigate post-ceasefire dynamics, the anthem reminds the military of its vigilance. The ISPR continues to use the media to foster unity and resilience.
