On August 14, 2025, Pakistan celebrated its 78th Independence Day with a renewed commitment to establishing an Islamic welfare state.
The day began with a 31-gun salute in Islamabad and 21-gun salutes at the provincial capitals. Special prayers were held in mosques to seek peace and prosperity. The main flag-hoisting ceremony took place at the Pakistan Monument and was led by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, symbolising national unity.

President Asif Zardari referred to the day as a moment of “renewed pride and hope,” commending the nation’s unity and the Marka-e-Haq victory for enhancing Pakistan’s stature on the global stage. Prime Minister Sharif paid tribute to the martyrs of the freedom movement, highlighting the importance of economic reforms and national sovereignty. He stated, “Independence Day 2025 is a call for unity, justice, and peaceful coexistence.”
