The Pakistan Meteorological Department (Met Office) has forecast hot and humid weather in Karachi on Thursday, April 17, 2025.

Daytime temperatures in Karachu are expected to rise between 35°C and 38°C. Strong southwest winds, reaching up to 30 km/h, are likely to blow during the day, accompanied by intense sunlight.

A severe Pakistan heatwave is gripping the country, with scorching conditions already affecting Sindh cities like Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Larkana, and Dadu.

The Met Office predicts that heatwave conditions will persist across most regions, with the southern half—Sindh, southern Punjab, and Balochistan facing particularly extreme weather from April 14 to April 18, 2025.

A high-pressure system in the upper atmosphere, which has been active since April 13, is responsible for the elevated temperatures we are experiencing. In the southern regions, daytime highs could reach between 46°C and 48°C, with temperatures 6°C to 8°C above normal. Nights will also be warmer than usual, providing little relief. The Met Office warns that this excessive heat may lead to dust storms or windstorms during this period.
