The recent wave of inflation has further exacerbated the concerns of citizens across the country and shows no signs of abating.
The Federal Bureau of Statistics has released a report detailing the weekly inflation rates; as per the report, prices for 23 essential items have increased this week, while prices for six items have decreased. Meanwhile, the prices of 22 essential items have remained stable.
During the current week, the nationwide inflation rate increased by 0.11%. However, on an annual basis, the inflation rate saw a decline, settling at 23.33%. Notable price increases were observed in lentils (Masoor) by 1.23%, lentils (Moong) by 1.02%, lentils (Chana) by 3.47%, fresh milk by 1.37%, chicken by 16.34%, and powdered milk by 6.07%.
The statistics also revealed that the price of flour increased by 0.61%, eggs by 0.61%, tomatoes by 19.47%, onions by 1.55%, and potatoes by 0.86%.
The report indicated that for citizens earning up to Rs 17,732 annually, the inflation rate decreased by 0.17%, bringing it to 16.17%. For those earning between Rs 17,733 and Rs 22,888 monthly, inflation decreased by 0.08%, reaching 20.10%.
For citizens earning between Rs 22,889 and Rs 29,517 monthly, the inflation rate increased by 0.02%, reaching 25.93%. For those earning between Rs 29,518 and Rs 44,175 monthly, inflation increased by 0.099%, reaching 23.50%. For citizens earning over Rs 44,176 monthly, the inflation rate rose by 0.19%, bringing it to 21.37%.
