The Ministry of Aviation in Pakistan has announced an exemption for serving judges and their spouses from body searches at all airports nationwide.
The decision follows directives from the Supreme Court of Pakistan. A notification confirming this exemption was issued by the Ministry of Aviation on October 12, as ordered by the Aviation Secretary and implemented by the Airport Security Force (ASF) director general.
On December 16, it was reported that Pakistan is in discussions with a company from the United Arab Emirates to install eGates at major airports, including Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, Lahore’s Allama Iqbal Airport, and Islamabad International Airport.
The proposed installation of eGates is part of an effort to modernize airport facilities in Pakistan, aligning them with international standards like those in Birmingham, Edinburgh, and Dubai. These automated self-service immigration barriers are designed to reduce queue times, allowing passengers, especially those with e-passports, to pass through immigration more efficiently.
The introduction of eGates represents a significant advancement in passenger travel experience at Pakistan’s major airports.
