Pakistan defeated New Zealand by seven wickets at Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi in the 2nd T20 international match.
The Pakistani bowlers, showcasing effective pace and spin, dismissed the New Zealand team for just 90 runs within 18.1 overs. The visitors struggled, particularly against Pakistan’s formidable pace attack.
Shaheen Afridi set the tone in the third over, dismissing New Zealand opener Tim Seifert for 12 runs. Following Afridi, Mohammad Amir, returning to the team after nearly four years, made an immediate impact by taking out Tim Robinson for four runs in his first over.
Amir claimed another wicket in his next over, with Babar Azam catching Dean Foxcroft. Although the Kiwis stabilized briefly, Abrar Ahmed broke through in the ninth over, eliminating Mark Chapman and James Neesham, who scored 19 and one run, respectively.
The rest of the New Zealand lineup faltered under pressure from Shadab Khan and Naseem Shah, with only four batters reaching double digits. Afridi ended with three wickets, while Amir, Abrar, and Shadab took two. Naseem claimed one wicket.
