Islamabad has committed to providing impeccable security for Chinese nationals working in Pakistan, reaffirming the strong ties between the two nations.
The pledge was made during a meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zedong at the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad.
Discussions covered Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to China, the enhancement of bilateral relations, and security strategies for Chinese citizens in Pakistan.
Minister Naqvi highlighted that the visit reinforced the friendship and noted China’s support for Pakistan. He detailed security measures for Chinese nationals, including those in Islamabad.
Naqvi also outlined a security plan for Chinese engineers and staff involved in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and other projects. He mentioned that robust Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are in place, and a specialized unit, the “SPU,” is being formed in Islamabad to protect foreign nationals.
“The protection of our Chinese brothers, contributing to Pakistan’s development, is our top priority,” stated Naqvi. He emphasized that efforts to undermine the Pakistan-China alliance would not be successful.
Ambassador Jiang expressed his confidence in Pakistan’s security arrangements and reiterated the deep bond between the two countries, describing their relationship as “iron brothers.”
