In the wake of the escalating water levels of the Panjkora River, the surrounding areas have experienced significant disruptions in the communication infrastructure. Despite these challenging circumstances, security forces persist with their relief operations in the flood-hit zones of Swat, Dir, and Chitral.
The rising waters have also inflicted damage on a bridge under construction at Shamsi Khan, a casualty of a local landslide. Other landslides have similarly affected the Kalakot, Sheringal, and Kumrat Roads, adding to the area’s difficulties.
The torrential rains and resulting floods in the Buni region of Chitral claimed another bridge. Security forces have responded proactively to these crises, deploying heavy machinery to the troubled regions to establish alternative routes for public commutes.
As the severity of the situation continues to unfold, the security forces are not only engaging in rescue missions in Swat and Shangla but also working tirelessly to mend the roads and communication networks. The deployed units offer much-needed support to the affected residents, providing them with food and water supplies.

Once the floodwaters in Lower Chitral recede, a detailed assessment of the damage will commence. Meanwhile, the authorities have distributed relief supplies to affected families in Upper Chitral.
The PDMA has issued a precautionary directive to all affected organizations and district administrations to mitigate further disaster. The advisory calls for preparedness against potential threats, including rain, sudden floods, urban flooding, and river flooding.
Dr Khateer Ahmed, Director General of Rescue 1122, reported that they had utilized boats to rescue individuals stranded in the Kabul River. In addition, Rescue 1122 officials have spearheaded a search operation with the help of scuba divers.
