On August 2, 2025, the Pakistan Army officially inducted Chinese Z-10ME attack helicopters to strengthen its aviation capabilities, as announced by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The induction ceremony was presided over by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Asim Munir, who also witnessed a firepower demonstration at the Muzaffargarh Field Firing Ranges. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), this milestone marks a significant advancement in the modernisation of Army Aviation and is expected to enhance integrated battlefield capabilities against adversaries.
The Z-10ME serves as an all-weather platform designed for precision strike missions both day and night. It is equipped with advanced radar systems and state-of-the-art electronic warfare suites, allowing it to engage a wide array of aerial and ground threats effectively.
The Aviation Industry Corporation of China first showcased the Z-10 at the Singapore Airshow in February 2024. At that time, Pakistan was identified as the sole export customer, as reported by Reuters. Notably, in 2021, Defence News documented that three Z-10 helicopters were delivered to Pakistan for trial but were subsequently returned after failing to meet operational expectations.

Field Marshal Munir’s Interactions
During interactions with troops at the firing ranges, COAS Munir praised their high morale, professionalism, and combat proficiency. He appreciated the successful demonstration of combined arms tactics, reflecting the army’s commitment to maintaining a decisive edge in modern warfare. At Multan Garrison, Munir received a briefing on operational preparedness and training, expressing satisfaction with the readiness standards. He reaffirmed the army’s dedication to safeguarding national sovereignty.
Munir also emphasised national unity and civil-military synergy in countering hybrid threats during an interactive session with academia and civil society members. The ISPR noted the importance of a “whole-of-nation approach” to foster societal cohesion.
The induction aligns with Pakistan’s efforts to modernise its military amid regional security challenges. Experts view the Z-10ME as a boost to Pakistan’s aerial strike capabilities, enhancing deterrence and response efficiency.
